[VIDEO] Part 1: Is Your Identity Defined by God or in your Role as Mom or Professional?

Welcome to Part 1 in our 4-part series on Your Role vs. Your Identity! As stay at home moms who left our professional careers to take care of our babies, it can be a real challenge transitioning from our role as professional to our role as mom. More often than not, we’ll base our identity on either our past or current roles. The problem with this is that roles are ever changing and we tend to base our self-worth and value on these roles. I want to encourage you today to base your value and self-worth instead on your identity which is rooted in who God says you are and who He created you to be. This is only possible if you know the difference between your IDENTITY and your ROLES.  Watch part 1 to find out the difference between each word. Ask yourself today: Is my self-worth rooted in my identity or in my current or past role?   We’d love to hear from you!  Leave us a COMMENT and SHARE this video if you found it helpful and valuable to you. [VIDEO] Part 2: The Danger of Letting your Self Worth be Defined by your Work

Welcome to Part 2 in our 4-part series on Your Role vs. Your Identity as we discuss the danger of letting your identity be defined by your work. As a professional women who used to be in the workplace, I enjoyed setting goals and crushing them. I relished in the opportunity to personally development myself and move up the corporate ladder. Fast forward to now… at home with 2 kids and a husband… it can be very hard to feel good about myself when it’s a constant flow of dirty dishes, laundry, and cooking meals. Sometimes it feels like nothing gets accomplished! Can you relate? It’s in these moments that you and I may feel that we are not “good enough.” You may feel that you aren’t accomplishing anything which can lead to dissatisfaction and depression. I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be that way. If we build our identity on who God says we are, and not in our work, we will find greater fulfillment knowing that we are always “good” and “enough” in the eyes of the Lord. [VIDEO] Part 3: The Danger of Defining your Self Worth in your Role as “Mom”

Welcome to Part 3 in our 4-part series on Your Role vs. Your Identity as we discuss the danger of letting your identity be defined by your role as “mom”. Being a mom is a 24/7 job. It’s unlike the job you had in the workplace. At work you may have been recognized and rewarded for a job well done. Mommyhood isn’t like this. Instead, you may get told you’re the worst mom in the world world just because you gave your child milk in a red cup instead of a blue cup. I think we can all relate! In this week’s video, I address the lack of appreciation we can feel as moms, as well as how it can be easy to become so consumed with our children that we forget about our spouse. It can leave us feeling unappreciated and exhausted. The way we feel about ourselves suffers, which can also affect the people around us. Watch part 3 as I encourage you to again remind yourself that your identity doesn’t come from what you do a s MOM but who God created you to be.  Watch this week’s video to learn more and be encouraged! [VIDEO] Part 4: Building your Identity on the Truth of God and not your Feelings

Welcome to Part 4 in our 4-part series on Your Role vs. Your Identity as we discuss why our feelings need to be grounded in the truth of God instead of our emotions that change from hour to hour. From the time you wake up, you’ll face challenges that will cause you to drudge through your day with a negative attitude or a positive one. It’s when we let our emotions take control that we sink deeper into a place that can cause us moms to be discouraged and overwhelmed. The only way we can combat this is by renewing our minds daily using the Word of God in scripture. Watch this week’s video as I give you a list of scriptures that will help you refocus and remind you that our identity is based on who God says you are, rather than the way you feel.   Click here to go back and watch Part 3.
